Amarjit Singh, Shooter with 1 Lakh Bounty, Neutralized

The main accused in Baba Tarsem Singh's murder case, Amarjit Singh alias Bittu, was killed in an encounter with the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) in the Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar on Tuesday morning.

According to Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar, Amarjit Singh, who had a bounty of 1 lakh on his head, was killed while his accomplice managed to escape.

The encounter took place during a raid by the STF on the hideout of the accused in Bhagwanpur. The accused allegedly opened fire on the STF personnel, who retaliated, resulting in the death of Amarjit Singh.

Amarjit Singh, born on January 6, 2001, was a professional footballer who played as a central midfielder for Punjab FC in the Indian Super League. He had also captained the Indian national under-17 team.

Singh was the key accused in the murder of Baba Tarsem Singh, the chief of Dera Kar Seva, who was shot dead in Punjab in 2021. The motive for the murder is still being investigated.

The encounter has raised questions about the use of force by the STF and the circumstances surrounding the death of Amarjit Singh. The police have said that an inquiry into the encounter has been ordered and the facts of the case will be thoroughly investigated.
